If you think you have a personal injury case that you could get a settlement on, the best way to find out is by presenting your case to an attorney. Here are three tips that will help you prepare to bring your injury case to an attorney.

#1 Make A Written Statement

The first thing you should do is sit down and craft a written statement about what happened to you, what your injuries are, and what you want to be compensated for. This doesn't have to be a perfectly detailed statement; it can be more of a basic outline if that works better for you. In your written statement, you are going to want to include important information about the incident that led to your injury, such as the date, time, and place where the incident took place, as well as what transpired during the incident. You are also going to want to include details about your injury and the impact it has had on your life.

This statement is mainly a tool so that, when you speak with an attorney, you remember what to say and you don't forget any important details that could help an attorney determine if they want to take your case.

#2 Gather Evidence

The second thing that you need to do is start gathering evidence associated with your case. If there was a police report filed in regards to your case, see if you can get a copy of it. If you took pictures of the accident, copy them and put them on a separate flash drive to give to your potential attorney. Make copies of all medical records and bills that you have access to.

When you interview an attorney to see if you have a case, be sure to bring that information with you. This will let your attorney see what type of evidence you already have access to and how hard they will need to work to gather the rest of the evidence in your case. This may factor into whether or not they think your case is worth it.

#3 Interview Attorneys

Finally, remember that it is not just about finding an attorney who is willing to take on your case; it is about finding an attorney that you want to work with and believe in. Make sure that the attorneys you contact have experience in the type of personal injury lawsuit that you are interested in pursuing.  Make sure as well that you feel comfortable around your attorney and that you feel like you will work well together.
